Mentoring sessions with my colleague brings back joy to work

The fact that I was procrastinating to initiate these sessions now feel insane to me. Because it has improved my workweek significantly. I've been feeling stuck at my job and it is because of several reasons which I won't go in much detail about. But one thing that is saving all that is having a 30 minute chat with one of my colleagues with huge work experience and knowledge and ton of case studies.

I'm working in People analytics field, which is and can be really broad. But a lot of it is data analysis, interpreting the data and through that trying to solve business problems. What I had expected was him giving me tasks and just practically inviting me to meetings I don't know much about and basically learning by doing. But since we started it has been a lot of interesting discussions, me showing him my work and getting really actionable and valuable feedback. Also, him showing me stuff he is working on and asking questions to ponder about during the week. And it just makes me so energized.

I think it partially is the novelty and the tasks I have in between, that it is not just talking about stuff but actually feels like expanding my knowledge in the field.

Just wanted to write this down because I need to savour these moments. It gives me structure for my growth and opens up curiosity. And I'm even starting to think to write a journal of the things I learn on this blog. To take it to the next level.
